Something I’ve noticed over the past few days is a disturbing trend in Web 2.0 sites out there: the good ol’ fashioned lock-out. I’ve noticed it in my normal browsing habits, but with the influx of visitors that my “OmniWeb bookmarklet”:http://gregorybowers.com/write/use-standalone-feedreaders-with-omniweb entry brought, I’ve started curiously following some of the links in my Mint referral…
Mark it
It’s somewhat odd that I’ve come to the point where I use RSS feeds to bookmark sites I want to revisit, and bookmarks to advertise sites I think other people should visit, but I’ll probably never look at again…
Microformatty Goodness
If you’ve visited my contact page, well… ever, you may have noticed the hCard formated contact info. Actually, you most likely didn’t. Well, that’s kind of the point, I guess… it’s just classes. However, I’ve made those little classes a bit more useful.
Use Standalone Feedreaders with OmniWeb
I recently wrote a little love letter to my dear friend, OmniWeb, regarding my inability to (easily) subscribe to RSS and ATOM feeds in an external, standalone feedreader (such as Vienna). Sure, OmniGroup have built in a bookmark-based feedreader (of sorts) into OmniWeb. That’s fine for a casual feed user, but my needs are far…
Soundtrack to Version Three
Since the site is new and you’re still getting to know each other, I thought I’d send some mood music your way. Give some of these tracks a try, and get comfy. Maybe flash knowing looks at each other. The site’s up for it. It is with great pleasure that I introduce you to quit…
Dearest OmniWeb
====Oh my dear, beloved “OmniWeb”:http://omnigroup.com/omniweb … I think it’s time we had a talk. I love spending time with you every day, but since you’ve decided to start only asking 10 bucks for new purchases in November, I feel that I must air a small frustration in our relationship. Do you recall the time we…
QOTD: Politicians
The results are in and we lost. Undecided races notwithstanding, every single seat in both the Senate and the House has been taken by politicians. [emphasis is mine – ed.] – Joshua Steimle I won’t comment on the rest of the article—mostly because I thought the first line was so brilliant that I didn’t want…
A late night thought
Whoever said “Everyone dies alone” obviously never considered plane crashes.
Kil
Today I set up a playlist on my mac of nothing but Mark Kozelek tracks, and I’ve been reminded how fantastic the Tiny Cities album is. I’m a pretty big Modest Mouse fan, and hearing Kozelek’s take on Isaac’s lyrics… well, let’s just say the songs feel completely new, and a few kind of give…
Version Three
Okay, so I promised to go more into depth on version three of this fabulous site. It’s 2:30 (which is 3:30, really, because day light saving just switched) and I just returned from a Halloween party, so I’ll take a few minutes and say hey and explain why this site is such a big deal.…
