Medusa

I recently completed an illustration for an upcoming benefit calendar for a friend of mine. She's dealing with the early stages of cervical cancer, so a group of artists decided to come together and produce a calendar of our interpretations of her (she does some modelling on the side, so we had plenty of photography to base our work on). I'm not certain of the details, but I believe profits from the calendars will go straight to her. Regardless of the semantics, she's a fantastic person, and we're all pulling for her.

It’s actually kind of funny that I ended up basing this illustration on a snapshot she’d posted on her blog a while ago, rather than one of the pro model shots she’d provided.

bq.. I love it!!! you’ve taken one of my LEAST favorite pictures of me, and turned it into something i actually enjoy!
??–Amy, upon seeing a preliminary draft??

p. I’m really pleased with how it turned out and I’m looking forward to seeing the finished calendar.

p. UPDATE: I received my calendar in the mail today. Fantastic. If you’d like to help out, you can buy the calendar or individual prints via “DeviantArt.”:http://pistolitasuicide.deviantart.com My contribution is the month of October.
